Sydney harbour bridge climb

One word... AMAZING!!!
We knew coming to Sydney that the bridge climb was one of the things that we definitely wanted to do. It is a must! If your coming to Sydney and this isn't on your bucket list, then grab that list, screw it up, chuck it out and write a new one with this at the very top!

We was so excited to do this, like beyond excitement, imagine excitement then times that by 200 that was our excitement level. I think you get the gist.
Bobby being the best boyfriend ever surprised me with this two days before we was doing it. Little cutie! As Sydney is throwing us some seriously bad weather, the only day it was sunny was the day we did this so he had picked the perfect day.

Once you get there you have to fill out some paper work and whilst your there, you stand in a circle (i felt 10 again) to get to know the group of 14 your doing the climb with and also your climb instructor.  From there you get given jumpsuit that is basically a onesie to wear, then get given a belt with a harness on, a jumper in case it gets chilly, a hat, a handkerchief if you get all emotional from the sights, safety string for your glasses and finally a headset to hear your guide. After you get everything you need you finally get started on the walk.

The walk up is breath taking, one side is the opera house, circular quay, the rocks, Taronga zoo, etc. The other side is Luna park, darling harbour, cockatoo island and behind is the city. They tell you the facts about Sydney and also tell you about the heritage about the bridge, how it was made, how long it took, how many people died making it, how much it cost etc. Its all interesting but your main focus is the views. On the way up you stop a few times for pictures and take in the view. You don't get to walk completely across it to the other side, you only walk to the top then back down again.

The stuff you wanna to know:

The price:
Adult $198-$358
Children $148- $228
Dawn, day, twilight or night depends on the price of climb you get.
We did the day so it cost $248 per person. Its quite expensive but its a once in a life time thing to do so the choice is yours.

Photo's:
Ah the money makers, there's always one where ever you go.
For safety reasons you aren't allowed to take your own cameras up there, they will take their camera and take the pictures for you. You can buy picture packages or single when you book online, or after your climb. Bobby the smart nugget booked us a 10 picture package for $49.99 i believe so whilst we were up there we got to have all of the pictures they took of us.

The complete package- what you get for your money:
Well of course you get the climb, a certificate of achievement, a bridge climb hat, free entry to the pylon lookout and a group photograph.

Our review

Overall we loved the climb. It is one of those things you will never forgot so you can't put a price on memories... but they had a good crack at it.
The only thing i would say they could improve on was the price. For a couple its $500 dollars but if your a family of 4 that's nearly $1000 dollars and of course you want pictures of it so that's an extra cost. You wouldn't want a group photo as your keep sake, you would want a personal photo to take back home.

Bondi to Bronte walk

Getting off a Bondi junction we had the choice of getting the bus down to the beach or walk it, as it was 20 degrees we thought walk it as it only takes about 15 minutes. By the time we had got there we was hungry, so we grabbed so lunch and sat on the rocks.

After eating a lot and i mean a lot we thought we better walk it off. The Bondi to Bronte walk is meant to be breathtaking and exhausting but worth it! I thought it was going to be easy but i was wrong, oh very wrong! You walk alongside the rocks and got a view overlooking all the beaches. Because right round the corner of Bondi beach you have Tamarama beach and Bronte. I didn't realise how close they were to each other, i thought they were far away but when you stand at the top of the cliff you can see all three. Its gorgeous! The views are definitely worth the hike and during the trail you have work out benches. I attempted a push up but after my limit of 1 i just sat there and took in the views whilst bobby carried on We walked for about 4 hours so its safe to say we were ready for bed when we got in!

We wanted to do this walk in the winter because when it comes to summer its going to be even more exhausting to walk all of that in the heat.

Were falling in love with Bondi and i can't wait for Christmas when we spend all of Christmas day and new years day staying in the sun and looking at lifeguards!
The sand furthest away is Bronte then the next one along is Tamarama  and then the one closest to us is just rocks.

Sydney Tower Restaurant

Im in love with food! Any thing with food, I'm there! So when it come to picking what food related activity to do this week we thought it was time to see Sydney from up top!

There was two dining choices to choose from, the 360 Bar and dining or the Sydney Tower Restaurant. The 360 bar and dining was basically a sit down meal with a set menu and the Tower restaurant was a buffet. As we didn't like the menu for the 360, we thought buffet then we got more for our money as we could go up as many times as we wanted!

It was pretty high up so your in the elevator for about 5 minutes and you can hear your ears pop as you reach the top. We was greeted by a man that called us Mr & Mrs Cornwall, threw me back a bit but i could get use to it its better then getting called Mrs Turtle because they can't pronounce my last name!

Our seats where pretty amazing, we had a booth. Because we booked for 6pm it wasn't too busy and we had had the buffet to ourselves for a little while. I got a jug... of lemonade, rock star that i am and Bobby got a jog of toohey new.

Food
We have to admit, it was a little disappointing. I was so excited for the seafood but when you see a man go in with his hands it kinda puts you off it. But i did get to try salt and chili squid and boy oh boy it was good, a bit spicy (by little i mean a lot) for my likings but with a jug of lemonade i knew i would be fine. Bobby tried Kangaroo, crocodile and emu. He verdict was emu was alright nothing amazing, he wouldn't rush to have it again. He wasn't a fan of crocodile but kangaroo was nice. We tried a few other things but we didn't go back for seconds. The food was alright but we thought we would be taking 2 or 3 plates back to the table with us but there weren't much on the plate.

Desserts destroyed us! We had a lot of desserts, ice cream, water melon, orange's, melon, jelly, lemon tart, chocolate mud cake, profiteroles, apple and cinnamon tart and a lavender & honey mouse. I'm not kidding between us that's what we had!

The View
Your pretty much paying for the view and we was OK with that because  it was AMAZING! I don't think we looked at each other much in the evening, our heads were constantly looking out the window. the time we was there it had done a full 360 around Sydney. It really was breathtaking and i said WOW every 5 seconds. It was such a good night and definitely worth every penny!

Excuse the blurriness, it was the only picture i had that didn't have a reflection in it.

The view will do!

We were VERY lucky to find our apartment when we did.
We were getting slightly worried not finding anything on gumtree but a day before we were about to be kicked out of our hotel we finally found something.

Out of respect for the privacy of the owner, we aren't going to post any pictures of the inside just the amazing views that may make you slightly jealous... Sorry!

Royal Botanic Garden

We were getting bored of going into the city and just looking at shops, we wanted to do a little exploring.
(We was not prepared mentally, physically or clothes wise for what bobby was about to take us on.)

We first tried to walk across the harbour bridge, going up countless amount of stairs to then figure out we went up the wrong entrance.... back down the stairs we went!
Then we wandered around the Sydney Opera house thinking there might be some hidden sites but instead we photo bombed someones wedding pictures.
There are surprisingly a lot of weddings here, the first week we see 3 in one day and a couple had their pictures taken outside Starbucks with me and Bobby stuffing our faces in the background.

At the back of the Opera house there there was an entrance to the Royal Botanic gardens.
It is like they have taken something out of the rain forest and popped it in the middle of Sydney. The views are breathtaking! Its peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. Each way you turn there is something different, one second I'm looking at palm trees and hammocks the next I'm looking at loads statues.

I could sit here and tell you how big it is or you can just look at this map and see for yourself. Click Here

It has everything for all ages: nature walks, parks, ponds to feed the many birds, restaurants, quiet lounge areas, swimming pool, herb gardens, oh countless amounts of different gardens... the list is endless.

We were probably in there for about 2 hours and only covered half of it!

A little fun fact i learnt it has 8,900 plants in there but with the domain it is 67,100!

This was taken from the Harbour bridge.

I only got two pictures but we are going to go back into the gardens to see more so i will do another blog post on it.

Darling Harbour

For our first week we stayed in a hotel to get ourselves settled in, the perks of staying in a hotel was that it was perfect location.
One side of us was china town and the other was darling harbour.

Darling Harbour is basically laid out like a big 'U', with restaurants either side and many attractions to keep you busy.

There is a HUGE playground, its meant to be for children but it most definitely doesn't look like a child's playground! It was like a mini go ape!

All of the restaurants are on Cockle Bay Wharf, King Street Wharf and Harbour side.
There was a selection to choose from like:
Hard rock cafe, Guylian Belgian chocolate cafe (a dream come true), Nicks seafood bar and grill, I'm Angus- a steak house and Cargo's. To make a long story short, there is lot to choose from!

On this particular day we grabbed a burger, sat by the harbour and tried not to get attacked by seagulls.
