Christmas down under!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! A very late Christmas post but i was having so much fun over the Christmas holidays, i just didn't have time... I'm sorry!
Our Christmas was spent a little differently this year than what we are use to. Firstly it was HOT, secondly it wasn't cold and thirdly it was HOT!!!!!!! This was our first Christmas being away from family and spending our first Christmas along and eighth together! Wow!
We had got our apartment a week before Christmas so it was time we started getting into the Christmas spirit and decorate the house. We got ourselves a Christmas tree, stockings, calendars and fake snow.

I'm putting this out there, i hate food shopping. I have never known something more stressful and none satisfying in my life. Especially at Christmas time! No one is nice, no one is in the jolly spirit, its all run over your toes with trolly's and steal the last turkey! We did not enjoy this experience what so ever and we came out the shop saying 'we have to do this for the rest of our lives -_-' 

CHRISTMAS DAY!

Being in Sydney the one thing we knew we had to do was go to the one  place were we knew everyone was going to be happy and merry.... Bondi Beach!

It was amazing! The day was perfect for the beach and I don't know if i said it but it was very hot. Blue skies and not a cloud in the sky! Followed by us tackling a Christmas dinner, games and skyping home to family!

We all knew this was going to happen!

We are very lucky enough to have an amazing family and friends that spoilt us with a package of presents and cards. We wasn't expecting it but we certainly welcomed it with open arms when we saw it was filled with chocolate, sweets and twiglets!

My mum's exact words were when i asked what was in there on the phone 'Oh its only Christmas and birthday cards' Yeahhhhh!

We had a brilliant day with our little adoptive family, we did just want to write Christmas off this year as were not with our families  but when your only here once you need to make the most of things and enjoy the moment because in a year or two its all going to be a memory and what would you rather remember: the time you did nothing or the time you spent Christmas day in bikinis and swim shorts with Christmas hats on on Bondi beach with friends!

10 things to do in Sydney that won't cost you alot!

Australia is quite expensive at times but we have found some things that we have done or are on the list of things to do that won't cost you a lot to do but will still be memorable!
1. Be a beach bum at Bondi  Depending on where you are in Sydney tickets can be cheap, For us we get on at kings cross and its $5 for a return and 2 stops later your in Bondi beach. Take a scarf instead of a towel to save you the weight, take a picnic with you or buy some lunch on the pavilion, grab some suncream and head over the beach. Depending on where you eat you can grab a bargain, I personally have fallen in love with The bucket list and will go there again!
2. Harbour Bridge & Opera House Doing the Harbour bridge walk will set you back quite a bit as prices start from $198 BUT if you find the right places you can get right up close to it for cheap as chips. If you head over the Luna Park you can get a view. Any angle you go you are going to get a great view of the opera house, they have cafes on the right hand side facing the harbour bridge. To me that's a a great afternoon watching the world go by sitting in the opera house looking at the bridge and seeing the sun set.

3. Luna Park Luna Park is free entry and park rides start from $16.
4. Get lost in the Royal Botanical Gardens The Botanical gardens are huge and i have talked about them in a few of my posts so i won't rabbit on so if you Click Here and Here you can read all about it.
5. Take a sip at the Opera Bar All you have to do is order yourself a cocktail or what ever tickles you pickle and you can enjoy your night listening to live music and taking in the views.
6. Do the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk Put on you walking shoes and take In some of the best views Bondi has to offer. You can go even further if you feel up to it and go to Coogee beach.
7. Dip in the Pool We haven't done this one yet as its closed for the season but after walking past it few times we want it go in it! Its $6 entry and you can swim all day. Have a look at the ABC pool Link Or you can go in the Olympic pool right next to the harbour bride.

8. Hitch a ride Instead of walking the same streets you've seen before why don't you get a water taxi or take a boat trip to anywhere that takes your fancy. An Eco Hooper cost $9 so why not! 9. Have a BBQ in the park Go get some burgers and sausages and head down to Alfred park and use the public BBQ's
10. Be a tourist If you are only here for a short time and want to see all of the sites the best way to do it is; The Hop on Hop off Its $40 per ticket but you get to see everything in your own time. It can last 24 hours or 48 hours. Its a little fun so why not!

Bondi to Bronte walk

Getting off a Bondi junction we had the choice of getting the bus down to the beach or walk it, as it was 20 degrees we thought walk it as it only takes about 15 minutes. By the time we had got there we was hungry, so we grabbed so lunch and sat on the rocks.

After eating a lot and i mean a lot we thought we better walk it off. The Bondi to Bronte walk is meant to be breathtaking and exhausting but worth it! I thought it was going to be easy but i was wrong, oh very wrong! You walk alongside the rocks and got a view overlooking all the beaches. Because right round the corner of Bondi beach you have Tamarama beach and Bronte. I didn't realise how close they were to each other, i thought they were far away but when you stand at the top of the cliff you can see all three. Its gorgeous! The views are definitely worth the hike and during the trail you have work out benches. I attempted a push up but after my limit of 1 i just sat there and took in the views whilst bobby carried on We walked for about 4 hours so its safe to say we were ready for bed when we got in!

We wanted to do this walk in the winter because when it comes to summer its going to be even more exhausting to walk all of that in the heat.

Were falling in love with Bondi and i can't wait for Christmas when we spend all of Christmas day and new years day staying in the sun and looking at lifeguards!

The sand furthest away is Bronte then the next one along is Tamarama  and then the one closest to us is just rocks.

Bondi Beach

The first words out of our mouths were WOW, we couldn't believe our eyes that we were actually at the iconic Bondi Beach!

It was and is beautiful, the sand was white and the sea was so many different colours of blue that we didn't know where to look first. We stood at the top watching surfers going out to catch a wave and looking over the empty icebergs pool, there was a photo shoot going on inside the pool.

Firstly, its quite small about a 10-15 minute walk across the sand, the TV show 'Bondi rescue' make it look huge but its really not!

We walked along the pavilion and as its winter here, they have an ice rink for a short while for people to enjoy and also there was a show going on whilst we walked past.

We decided to have lunch at The Bucket List (Link) and sit outside as the weather gorgeous. Everyone was relaxed and happy, the vibe was so good. 

Blue skies, Bondi beach, fish and chips and a corona not a bad day in my eyes!

After lunch we took a stroll along the beach and we sat in the sand hoping one of the lifeguards would come out but no one did :( I was very disappointed but as were going to spend Christmas there i knew we had good chances we were going to see them in action!

We both agreed that our day at Bondi Beach was our best day since we had arrived! 

 It was such a good day!
